The Wakelin Family
My name is Jessie Wakelin, and featured in the photo is my beautiful family.
My husband Tony and I were married in 2007. We have 5 beautiful children and are a very prophetic family. The supernatural is just a normal part of our lives.
We moved into homeschooling a few years ago from a negative situation, which God turned for good, and it has provided a wonderful opportunity for discipleship we hadn’t realised earlier.
We have served the church in various ways over the years, but my husband is primarily a workplace evangelist; he carries the glory and presence of God into his workplace every day. He is a Godly man, a wonderful husband and Father. I am truly blessed.
Previously, I worked as an Audio Engineer, a Primary School Teacher, and I also have a Diploma of Ministry and Bachelor of Theology. I have served the church in the areas of worship, children’s ministry, prayer and intercession, prophetic ministry, leading small groups, an organic street ministry, evangelism, and preaching. I love Jesus and share his love wherever I go, and share the gospel whenever I get a chance.
My greatest work is as a mother, raising the next generation of Jesus followers; precious ones who carry the glory of God and take down the giants in the land. Raising Glory Carriers.
Raising Glory Carriers
We were made for a relationship with God. Before Adam and Eve fell in the book of Genesis, they spent time in the presence of God. Humanity was designed to live in alignment with God, and as those who represent Him in the earth, we were designed to carry the glory of God (Gen 1:26-28). This is what was lost in the fall… a relationship with God. “Sin” in the Bible is likened to an archery term that means to “miss the mark”. When we sin, we miss the mark of what we were created to be, like an arrow missing the bullseye. Jesus died and rose again to bring us back into this alignment, back into design, back into an intimate relationship with God, back into the family of God.
Discipleship is the process of us outworking the reality of what Jesus died to restore to us. The Holy Spirit, who is God, the presence of God, the glory of God, comes to live inside of us when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour (John 14:16, Rom 8:1-17, 1 Pet. 4:14). We as believers in Christ are all in the process of putting to death our old sinful nature, where we “miss it” and are learning to walk in our identity as sons and daughters of the Father (Eph. 1:5-6, 4:22-24, Gal. 4:5-7).
One of the best roles we have as parents is introducing our children to an Almighty God, who loves them more than us. To encourage them to know Him and be known by Him. To help them navigate their spiritual gifts and to live as a supernatural child of God in a world that is ever increasingly hostile to their decision to be a Christ follower. To raise them with a biblical worldview and understanding of what they were created for, which is to have a dynamic relationship with God as his child and to represent Him throughout the earth.
